Frog Ponds
An ecosystem all its own, only 50 steps away from the Inn. Two small secluded pools with bromeliads, banana's, philodendrons and other jungle plants surround these little bodies of water. During the rains, the tree frogs are in concert early evening. Five different species of frogs can be found hiding in these plants, the favorite is the very abundant Red Eye Tree Frog.
Also stalking the area is the cat eyed snake looking for frog eggs, laid under the leaves. Small Boa constrictors are also moving slowly around looking for a meal.
After viewing the frogs, cross the street to the black sand beach in pursuit of the sea turtle laying her eggs or better, baby sea turtles coming out of their nests and escaping to the ocean.
This is a wonderful trip after dinner, bring a good flashlight and camera.
